wilhelm scream
The Wilhelm scream, in the first minute of the game, in a serious cinematic intro, in 2023. Show immediately: a - the game has really cheap sense of humor, b - the people behind the audio are low professionals thinking too much about themselves. Any sound designer with self respect nowadays would not even think about using it. Couldn't you at least veil the sound with some post processing? Gosh... the cringe and sadness.

Come on. The Wilhelm scream is literally everywhere. It's in GoT and Breaking Bad as well, but nobody except those who are actively looking for it will ever care.

I hate when people use the Wilhelm scream in their media too. It immediately breaks immersion.

I don't feel quite as strongly as OP about it, but I wish it wasn't a thing.

Honestly I didn't notice it. possible been too distracted by other things.
But... like anything with BG3... it's Larian. it's their style for good or bad.

I would leave a negative review if it didn't have a wilhelm scream!

It's an inside joke for people in the film industry (and partly gaming industry) to include the Wilhelm scream in.
Why you gotta be mad about it?

You realize the Wilhelm scream is a meme for audio people right? Like, it's something they all throw in literally everything you've ever seen as both a meme and throwback. It's a culture thing, not because they are lazy.

The only thing cringe here is that you really went on a rant on the internet about a literal tradition in media. Big yikes, touch some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ grass bud.

Something being a "meme" or "tradition" doesn't place it above criticism.

Just for the people in the back.

To be mad about it is ridiculous, though.

Being so mad that you post about it like its the end of the world is freaking ridiculous and you know it. Its a one second audio clip in a game with 162 HOURS of video.

Why? It breaks immersion. Whenever I hear it, it immediately pulls me out of whatever film I'm watching or game I'm playing. I really wish sound designers would find a new "tradition".
