I didn't get my wizard hat.

I got some sort of Scottish bonnet instead. I want my wizard hat. Do I need to start a new game until I gets it?

Just keep re-loading the save before the ship crash cutscene. Eventually you'll get a beach with the wizard hat. Got it on my 2nd try

It's random. I always make humans and sometimes I get the wizard one and sometimes the other monstrosity. You get more wizard hats later on though.
