Vulcan is absolutely the way to go. DX11 is awful right now.
This game was running like absolute garbage for me. EA ran a lot better on DX11.

If you're using an RTX Card and the new Nvidia driver I really recommend switching to Vulcan. Not only is it smooth there is ZERO stutter using Vulcan. With DX11 every time I turned the camera it would drop into the low 20's and stutter then finally get back to a solid 70 FPS, but it was so bad in the Druid grove area that I was considering maybe just dropping the game until a patch.

If anyone else is having massive stutter, frame drops etc. I highly recommend launching the game in Vulcan.

yep, all true, something need some serious fixing ASAP cuz late EA was def much more smooth and way less prone to crashing

I'm using Dirctx11, drivers are up to date and with my RTX 3070ti the game runs fine. Very, very fine.

The right answer is use whichever one works best for you. Different systems = different results.

Here to second this. DX11 seems completely broken, stuttering every time I move the camera, and every time I would engage in a conversation, my frametime would go absolutely haywire between 8.4ms and 16.6ms even though it says "120fps".

Vulkan STILL stutters, but considerably less so.

4080, 12900k, latest drivers.

Opposite for me, 4090, smooth on DX11, trash on vulkan.

Vulkan for modern AMD certainly. I can run the game at twice the frame rate with a 7900 XT.

mmm.. good idea to try tweaking if need be.
For now I am running epic video quality at 60FPS no trouble.
Using DX11 (or is 12? cant quite remember).
Sporting a Geforce 4080, also SSD hard drive, if that matters

If you want HDR you need to use DX11.

GTX 1080 here and running on Ultra with very little FPS drops below 60 in most places. Only place I see any noticeable impact is in places with a lot of NPCs within draw distance.

Vulkan causes a constant strobe-like flickering for BG3 for me. Vulkan works fine for all the other games I have that use it, though. DX11 what works on my PC.

Thing is, I wouldn't claim vulkan is awful simply because it isn't behaving properly on my PC. Vulkan doesn't work on my end, but it's working fine for others. It's not awful. DX11 is working fine on my end, but not for others. It's not awful.

I use RX 6500 XT only and can play smoothly (stutter at first load only) at high graphic preset with DX11 average 42.7 fps

wonder if I should change to vulkan is that gpu good with vulkan?
