Error when trying to load game

Ok I've installed the game checked the integrity of the files and I keep getting this error when I try to launch the game:

Error

Failed to load the main menu from the current game mod. The main menu in that
mod requires the level. Make sure to clear any local mods and try again. If the
problem persists, please contact Larian Support.

Now I don't know why I am getting this as I've got NO MODS installed for the game. I've even deleted Vortex and still cant' get the game to run. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm having the same problem! I removed all mods before playing yesterday, played probably six hours, and now after downloading the update I'm having this crop up. I uninstalled and reinstalled, tried disabling the Deluxe Edition DLC, verified my game files, and gone through the common fixes on their support page. So far, a crash before loading the main menu.

Same problem here, deleted all mods yesterday and played it for hours, then new update and now its giving me this message

Same for me! I cleared all the mods, uninstalled the early access, & deleted all the old data & saves before installing the full version. I got as far as the beach yesterday, then it crashed. After that it would crash on start. Reinstalled video driver, verified game cache, no good. Last night I copied the install from my daughters computer where it works properly, and now I get this! Verified cache again, no luck, and the same whether trying to start in DX11 or Vulkan.

I'm currently creating a recovery drive & have been running backups. looking at a Windows reset at this point...

i literally just deleted and reinstalled the game and its fresh and its still not working.. i am about to try deleting the appdata files completely and see if that does anything.

ok so i deleted the "Larian Studios" file in app data local folder and its working now.. hope this works for others! good luck!

I remember doing that previously, but was looking for it in the documents & couldn't find it there now. (That was for EA to full release leftovers, though.) %localappdata%\Larian Studios\ deleted, and I can get in now.

volk if you have any old save data in the steam cloud they suggested that might be a problem as well so delete the cloud saves on steam THEN delete the folder to make it fresh?
also they had other suggestions on the troubleshooting part of their site https://larian.com/support/faqs/release-troubleshooting_100

Where do i find that folder? I am having same issue, i deleted the cloud saves and still have problem, can't find the larian studios file though.

If anyone is still having the problem and its the "Failed to load the main menu from the current game mod" for me there was a mod settings file in my saves in the larian studios-baldurs gate 3- player profiles- public appdata folder that i deleted and that fixed it

pretty sure he means the folder not a file if you do %appdata% in the windows search bar it'll take you to roaming you just need to go back one folder to appdata go local then its the larain studios folder
C:\Users\yourcomutername\AppData\Local\Larian Studios
