Steam file is tine and wont download full game

Hey all, I just bought this today thanks to seeing memes and excited to download but having an issue I cant seem to google anywhere for help.

Info: live in Canada, bought on steam, never had issue like this with past games.
Issue: When i hit install, i select my D drive (my solid state) and then it goes ahead but the install is only 688b big, finishes instantly and I get a green play button. If I go and hit the play button, I get the following error.

"An error occured while updating Baldur's Gate 3 (missing executable) :
D:\Games\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\Launcher\KaruKaybcger.exe"

When i check the folder for baldurs gate, just a folder was created, but there are 0 files present. I don't see any options for another file to download at all. Help?!

Stuff done already: I rebooted, updated steam, uninstalled and reinstalled tons, and I opened a ticket with steam support but I thought this could be faster

I got a response from steam support but so far just telling me to check anti-virus and the local files, which i did check the anti-virus and the issue is that NO local files download so I reached back saying that the suggested fix doesnt work and I need more help. Ill post if I get an answer here.

688b was the size of yesterdays patch fix. If it's only downloading that, attempt to go into properties and then the Beta section, then were you can opt-in select previous version. Once that's downloaded, then just put it to the latest version. Which would be that 688b update.

I dunno if that will fix it, but it would be my best guess.

Update: got back from an appointment to see if I had a response, and I had a steam update. following that my steam auto started a 90+GB update. no idea why but seems fixed on it own with that, maybe for others check version of steam client?
