Friends vs Charm Person (in Release)

I swear in EA there was a difference between these 2 spells and in a lot of dialogue dice rolls I'd either see one or the other but rarely both.

Now I see they both mention just Advantage on Charisma checks and I've tried having both and pretty much most dialogue rolls so far I'd have both as an option.

So is there any point to having both? Is it mostly about the "non-hostile" requirement of Friends? Am I missing something else?

Yeah it's mostly about the non-hostile requirement + one uses a spell slot. Really not worth having both if you intend to only use them in dialogues.

Friends is an out of combat option only. Charm person has a combat use as well making the charmed person unable to attack the caster

You can also be "caught" using Charm in tactician (allegedly, haven't encountered it personally).
