KILL COMMANDER ZHALK

hello i'm having trouble killing commander zhalk. please don't judge me this is my first baldur gate. Do you have any tips on how to kill it please? thank you

It didn't for me. Either way if it did look and see if Layzel has it.

It took me about ten tries. I cast Shield of Faith on the Mind Flayer and hit the commander with a Guiding Bolt spell as well. With my thief hitting him with ranged sneak attacks elevated on the stairwell to the left and behind Zhaik and the rest of the party range attacking him, he went down. I had a lot of trouble until I recruited the Mind Devourer from the guys brain who flanked him during the fight and threw him off a bit, He went down first try with the Mind Devourer attacking him as well. The Illithid turned on me after the fight though and I had to boot it to the console after picking up the weapon.

and i confirmed we did it 2 time in coop both time we collected the weapons and once landed it's dissapeared

Sounds like a bug lol. Or maybe you're doing something wrong.
Because the fact is that you get to keep anything that you looted on the ship, it's not supposed to disappear.

No it's doesn't. I got the sword off the Commander. My char has been using it. :P

Have Shadowheart cast protection on the Mindflayer and throw him a heal from her.

There is going to be better swords later on. It's great for the early levels, say 1- 4.

Items that are not on your main character disappear. At least thats how it works for me when I tested it yesterday. Just send that sword over to your main character.

Then i can only take it as bugs. I tried the intro more than 4 times killing commander in multiple ways. I can get his sword almost all the time.

I just killed him after countless reloads....first i used command to make him drop the sword(and picked it up) which also lowers his damage to 6 instead of 20s...after that bless illithid and 2 characters...the thing is when the commander dies the illithid says you arent usefull anymore and turns to kill your characters...and the commander only gives 75 xp...so yea

Also i looted some of the corpses on the way out and got a few gems and a weapon or 2...when i woke shadowheart she still had it on her

For some reason I didn't get the achievement but I killed him. All I did was run in and my party just ganged up on him after the imps died. The mindflayer turned on us but he had like 1 HP left and we just bonked him. Got the sword and ran for the control panel as the two Cambions came running into the room. So I got the sword but no achievement, I wonder if it's cause the Mindflayer got the killing blow.

friends manage to find a solution which is to equipe the weapons directly

I did it in coop with 3 friends yesterday and after landing MY sword (😬) is still there.
