I agree that it is highly unusual. Even if to take it as an accident, it is significant enough that Larian should not only take note but offer an apology for various reasons.
I know that problem very well.
That is why I think Larian should apology, because it is no trivial matter.
Not everyone has access to good internet.
I made an extra thread within the feedback subsection and the news thread (post). But yeah, contacting Larian support and having a support ticket at hand is the most effective way to go.
Probably, whether good or bad, we will not hear anything about it until Monday afternoon GMT.
That sucks. Since you wanted to speed it up, and not prolong the wait time, especially.
Especially since it is impossible to foresee, as it is simply not how it is usually handled by publishers. On that note: probably rollbacks will be not possible either via Steam as it usually is with other games. Point again for GOG.com, I guess? And that while in the past having the GOG.com version was always being having a disadvantage for missing and late patches.
Had the problem and that solution actually seem to work for me, dunno how its with others *shrug*
But yeah, pretty big problem for people with suboptimal internet speeds, 100+ gb isnt small for some.
I marked your post for better visibility for everyone.
Please keep us updated if it actually works, with you being able to play the game properly once the download is finished. I wish you best of luck and thanks for sharing!
Googled and tried this earlier.
Glad it worked for you, but it did not work for me.
And the post is unmarked.
@Lord Silwith IVxPrompto
I hope wholeheartedly that the workaround works for you - for now I have unmarked the post since I do not want to risk that people might lose more time on a broken download, until the workaround you have found can be confirmed. Thank you for your understanding and thanks again for sharing!
@Dadaph
Thank you too for your quick feedback!
I gave it a shot. I found some files in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\downloading\1086940 that seemed to be Baldur's Gate files. I copied them direct to the Baldur's Gate folder in Steam. Restarted Steam. Still starting from 0%. Thanks for the glimmer of hope, though. Hope this works for someone else. However, I have a suspicion - I think maybe since I tried to restart my download before, perhaps it "overwrote" the file and is just giving me the progress I had when I last tried. I'm going to leave the download on tonight. (Starting the download created new files in the aforementioned file path). Tomorrow I'm going to copy them when I have to reconnect and I'll see if it works. Will report back tomorrow morning.
