Didn't get an extra feat at LVL 4.
Just reached level 4, Ranger2/Rogue 2, on my Main elf and never received a feat option. Shadowheart, Lae'zal and Gale did, but nothing for my main. Did I miss something?

Because you multiclass. You need level 4 in one single class to get it.

Obviously. ASIs are a class feature.

ASI and Feat is class and not character level dependent. You get it when you reach lvl 4 in ranger or rogue

If they are following the rules of 5e then you won't get one until one of your MC levels hits 4, because unlike in earlier versions of DND, or some other popular rpgs, feat gain is based on class level, not overall level.

They're a class feature. It's why Fighters and Rogues get an extra one.
Feats really ought to be tied to character level.

5e made it like this. Class dipping is much worse now.

Respec to Rogue 4 or Ranger 4 to get your feat, then multiclass when you level up again.

Welcome to the failures of 5e.

I didn't reach lvl 4 myself but as a DnD player (the tabletop versio of baldur's gate) I would say it's because you multiclassed. Indeed, the bonus feat is a reward every 4 lvl in a classs. You should get your feat propelly once you reach lvl 4 as rogue or as ranger. I hope I was clear enought ;)

Bleh another reason to hate 5E.

lmao it's actually a good rule. glad they tie it to class.
Kodaxmax Aug 4, 2023 @ 5:44pm
because 5e hates fun
Dr0W Aug 4, 2023 @ 5:47pm
I hate 5e, but that's one of the few things it does right.

In what world is "Personal experience has led me to be exceedingly capable at <insert thing here>" a feature of class? That's a feature of overall experience, which is what *character* levels, not class levels, represent.

Getting beat up enough I develop Toughness doesn't go slower if I was casting spells half the time and using a sword the other half. Getting beat up is getting beat up. Similarly, practicing singing on my off-time and getting good enough to qualify as a Bardic Initiate doesn't suddenly reset my progress if I decide to swap from stabbing people in the back to smacking them in the face with a hammer, either.

If you want to limit it to having enough practice in a specific class, that's what feat requirements are for. "4 levels in a single spellcasting class", or "Level 8 Warlock" can just be tacked on to the prereqs for a feat, and viola, your class progression requirements are done.

"Feats should be class progression". What a take...
