Great game, but no feather fall reaction?
Seems like feather fall is not very useful if we can't use it to save people mid fall.

I'm still trying to figure out how to use Feather Fall. Does the game need to be in turn-based mode before we have the option to save a friend with it?

Right now I'm feeling really chagrinned to have used one of my Bard spell slots on it when I get no prompt to cast it when an ally starts falling. :(

Have you checked your Reaction tab in your spellbook to make sure it's enabled?

That's also where you can set it to ask (or not) when the reaction comes up.

Use the spell before jumping and the feather fall will mitigate the fall damage.

Uuugh, really? I was hoping it would be an interrupt like in Solasta or when playing D&D IRL. >.<

Thanks for cluing me in though, at least now I know. <3

This.

I’ve only used featherfall once, and that was in EA when you kill the void spider and then jump down to reach the under dark

Monk has "slow fall", which is exactly what you describe. A feather fall on reaction.

Wait so it's not a true reaction anymore? Why break from the rules like this when other reactions exist in the game..
That just seems odd.

It's not a reaction, but instead it's an AoE so it works on the whole party and lasts 10 turns, can still be somewhat useful, but I really rather have the reaction.
It's also a ritual spell so it can be used outside of combat free of cost.

I thought Ritual Casting was meant to take 10 minutes; imagine ritual casting a featherfall reaction :special:

Man this game does take some creative liberties with the ruleset doesn't it :steamfacepalm:

You can't cast a spell while you're falling.
Hobocop Aug 7, 2023 @ 12:44pm
Eh, it being a ritual spell kinda makes up for it, tbh, since you can cast it in preparation if the battlefield warrants it.

Same with Jump and Longstrider, tbh, because those almost never get picked on TT over other spells.
