About the Shar Temple (copy/pasta from what I said on another thread), you can't get to it directly. You must find an elevator which is the starting point of Chapter 2. It's directly inside the city, pretty close from the boat that got you there. I searched for a quite long time before finding my way out of that city, and it was much easier that i thought :)
Don't focus on finding a way to the temple, you can't reach it from where you are. Focus on the quest that leads you to Moonrise Tower.
From the grymforge waypoint, take the first left, pass the dead drow in cages, up the stairs in front of you and activate the wrought iron gate, you'll talk to a gnome about a lantern, and the death dark, and hell let you use the elevator up.
Edit: be sure to tie up any left over side quests etc, as this will close them off.
