It doesn't have terrible gameplay (RTWP)
It isn't trial and error.
It actually plays well.
When BG3 was announced I thought exactly like this. Thank god I played early access and then DOS 2.
Now I think this turn based combat is truely the way PnP rpgs should be brought to a computer game.
It's not as fast but It is way more DnD and way more challenging. You truely have to utilize all of your party and each battle can be as easily lost as one. The dices are brutal. As they should be.
I am loving The game. After 25 years to get to go Back in to this world where my love for crpg's started as a Kid when BG1 came.
Completely agree. Just a reskin of a boring game = another BG3 boring game.
Honestly Pillars of Eternity combat is better.
Don't talk about the ENHANCED Editions (i'm fully aware of their improvements) and then say BG1 and 2 RTWP combat was awesome--we're talking about the original games here.
I applaud them for adapting the system first used in Darklands, but they didn't do as good a job as they could have done.
And I bought them when they came out. Still have my heft thick BG2 manual in its box.
You could always, I dunno. Put your halfling's bonuses where you think they should go?
I know I know, that would take effort on your part.
Not really seeing how thats 'woke,' but you do you.
nothing else is needed for that.
sorry you cant handle a character creator though
Baldur's Gate is not a type of game; it's a setting within a fictional universe. I'm sorry you disagree, but you are wrong.
I hate RTWP with a burning passion, the only reason i even finished BG2 and other titles like DAO with RTWP is because of the story and characters.
Turn based is the natural progression and is superiour in any way.
I'm glad they took the RTWP out.
Even Pathfinder realized their mistake and added turn based in later.
"sex with a bear is fine, but GAY sex with a bear? woke garbage!"
I am so glad you consider your own point of view legitimate. Here is a thought. Turn based is as legitimate a choice as RTwP. Considering DnD is TB, the game being TB makes sense. You may not like it and that is your right, but feel free NOT to play the game and move on. If you honestly think crying about TB right now is going to change anything you are deluded.
These modes can't coexist, thankfully larian made the right choice.
