Bump! I also get it and it's after playing over a dozen of hours with no issue for like 3-4 days. I have drivers up to date, I have reinstalled the game, I've checked both vulkan and dirextx, I've launched as administrator also directly from the folder and nothing works, any help?!
I JUST had this start happening. Game was playing perfectly fine for 14 hours - no issues. Suddenly crashed and now I'm stuck with this error. I've validated files and it says everything is fine. NOTHING changed! Please help!

Well, computer finally finished third time validating files so I decided to restart, and that fixed it. No idea what caused the problem, b/c other games worked fine. Should've tried restart sooner!

Not trying to spam this thread - but I just saw your post. I'll keep that in mind if it happens again. Thx!

Wanted to respond to this post describing my own troubles with this problem. For context, I'd been recording my own gameplay with OBS (which I had over on a second monitor), abusing Xbox Game Bar to take screenshots, AND running the game all at once. I'd been having crashes related to my RAM at first and I think I got that fixed (I knew the problem and had to replace my motherboard), and my RAM had been running about 90% capacity and my CPU was not usually more than 15% while doing all of these things before. Once I finally fixed that, I still ended up with crashes, but were definitely suddenly relating to something new, one of which was realizing that Xbox Game Bar background recording for up to 2 hours of previous footage by default and then, more importantly, with the game suddenly saying that my GPU was incompatible with DirectX 11, failed to create rendering device, etc. I knew the latter didn't make sense 'cause I've already played the game for minimum 24 hours at this point without that being an issue, so something was up.

Reinstalling the game did clear up the message for me, but it happened a second time and I had to find out whatever the root of the problem was. Since it was GPU related, I went and did an AMD cleanup utility to completely reinstall my drivers and AMD Adrenalin (also discovered at THIS point that this program can take screenshots much like Xbox Game Bar, so I completely ended the Game Bar process on my computer). While I was at it, I had been routing my second monitor through my GPU, as well, so I opted to try and see if anything would be different routing the monitor through my motherboard, instead.

Since doing all of that, my RAM was only running up about 60% and my CPU was now at about 30%. Didn't end up with another crash because of this reason yet, but I've only run the game once more since doing all of that (albeit doing roughly the same things), though I'll try to remember to come back with an update. If this isn't applicable to OP, I hope this might be able to help someone else that might be having similar problems to myself.

Oh, no worries. Xbox game bar is known for such issues.

I honestly didn't realize I had it at first and, by this point, hadn't bothered to try using it for much of anything, so any existing issues are new to me 😬

Hey, was having this issue today. What you have to do is go to your Device Manager, click "Display Adapters", right click your GPU and disable it, then reenable it. Game should run after that.

That is an entirely different issue then what was discussed before, but is not unfit. However, that issue you describe normally only occurs with laptops and bad OS setups.

Upping post , after trawling Internet/forum for similar gamers encountering this bug. Have been playing game on same device, no new software nor hardware installation on my desktop rig. Have played normally smoothly so far in the past 3 months, until 1h ago, post after Hotfix #21 was updated via Steam. .. resolved like a minute ago following 'sasha grey' troubleshoot tip. .. hope it's just a temporary bug and not a long-term bad actor between BG3 game Hotfix21 vs. my (others) playing device/OS =(
