Dank Crypt Withers bugged

The "Explore the ruins" quest is bugged for me - after entering the dank crypt and clicking the sarcophagus nothing is happening, I can only loot it. No cutscene with Withers LOL. Seems like a blocker after more than 10hrs played..

quick question:

once you get withers, does he offer hireling?

after talking to him, all I get is class respec, no options for hireling.

Seem a bit wierd to put respec and hireling on wither wich was missable in EA.

I also didnt get the cutscene. You can still find Withers in your camp. Problem is, the quest wont close and i guess you dont recieve any reward for it?

The spoilered text is a big hint for some people, be aware of that.
Are you sure you're working on the right sarcophagus?
Although those who didn't get the cutscene but still have it in their camp probably hit a different bug.

Yep, same bug. I have a quest marker on my map on the Sarcophagus telling me to open it but I've already looted it. I did some googling and looks like this happening enough to be encountered relatively often. I tried reloading an older save from before opening the sarcophagus for the first time, but that did not resolve the issue. Hoping there's a fix for this at some point.

I tested it, and I found that if I go back to the save file when I entered the tomb for the first time, the plot can be triggered, but the save file I opened after level 5 will not trigger.

The Withers appeared in my camp a while ago without any apparent trigger and I spoke with him. I've come back to the ruins some time later, opened the sarcophagus and my journal says speak to the strange figure but no one appeared. I went to the campsite and the quest marker is on him. You can ask him about the tomb and the quest will be completed.

I tried the new patch and went to the tomb, i can loot it but still no withers event, just the object marker.

you probably looking at wrong one . once you near the door something should light up. you press it . fight few undead. then you open door go inside click and he always come up

The quest is bugged but you can still validate it.
Here's how to do it

1-Click the button and defeat all the monsters

2- Enter the room, the log update is triggered.

3-Go to the camp where you will find Withered, west of the camp behind the gate.
Talk to him.

4-Leaving the camp

5- Click on the plate just below the sarcophagus, the journal should update.

6- Go back to the camp and talk again with Withered There should be a new dialogue option on the plate.
The quest should complete normally.

I can vouch for Zabatoirs way. I finally found withers exactly as he suggested. Just in incase, have the latest patch installed as well for safe measures. Thank you kind sir!
