If you have a bug with Wyll and Karlach, when the scene of their confrontation does not start, and an exclamation mark hangs over Wyll - most likely you are playing multiplayer. To solve the problem, the host must enter the single player game and take a long rest. In this case, the cut-scene will begin and after it there will be a normal dialogue with Wyll.
As for Shadowheart and wolves. Well. I got that convo as well but there was no exclamation mark to begin with.
On top of that, I don't remember fighting ANY wolves. I was so confused when she told me not to leave her alone with wolves. I was like "Oookay. Did we fight wolves?"
Hope it goes away eventually
I got it when moving to the Shadowlands from the Mountain Pass - after a certain encounter. It stays with me since - no matter what I do (long rest / changing party composition)
I did this with Wyll - doesn't work.
BUT the quest associated with the exclamation part is bugged and doesn't show up in the Quest log. LUCKILY I found a quick fix.
Step 1: Kick everyone beside yourself and the bugged NPC out of the party (in my case this was Wyll who had the exclamation point bug) let's call him Wyll.
Step 2: I Fast Traveled to Tea House (any remote corner of the map will do)
Step 3: Tell Wyll to wait off in the distance somewhere while you go check on something real quick (again the quest is bugged--so you'll just have to say this out loud to the computer monitor or TV screen and then separate Wyll from your party.
Step 4: Walk down to the spot at the end of the area. That nice spot with magic mushrooms and there's a nice spot right where the water comes up. Okay, it's not that nice a spot. It's a bog. So that sucks---but you know it's not the what really sucks about the whole situation and you're deflecting a bit. It's a natural human response to act this way. It's okay to forgive yourself for being human every now and then. Still one must recognize their own faults and face up to them in order to grow. Is this not what we all Quest for? To level-up and become something greater than we were before?
Well there's no gold without the dragon. So take a deep breathe and understand that being an adult means giving all things the honor and dignity they are due. Don't let the waterworks get started. Steel yourself.
Step 5: Walk back over to Wyll and knock him out with the non-lethal attacks. Strip him completely of clothes, armor, gear, everything, naked as the day he was born.
Step 6: Drag Wyll's unconscious naked body out into the water and then walk back on shore and arm every single trap you've collected in the game up this point along every inch of the shore.
Step 7: Just before you're out off screen use a potion to heal Wyll. Then run far out of earshot while he's still groggy.
Step 8: Say a prayer. Then readd Wyll's to your party. Then take one step forward. One step. Don't look back. It's over now. Shhhh. It's over.
Step 9: Don't look back. Don't look back....
Step 10: Exclamation point's no longer hover over character's heads and personal growth quest has been completed. You win no EXP because the best rewards are intrinsic anyway.
After doing some testing I pretty much understand what happened in my case to trigger the problem, in the Druid's grove the first time you go inside there are 3 dialogues that will happen which are:
1. You saving the young girl which is directed to your playable character.
2. If she fails a roll she will be frightened by the wolf in the cave and comment about it depending if you are close enough to her.
3. She will comment on the drawings in the wall.
So if all three are triggered at the same time something goes wrong, the first one might not affect it at all but in my case there was no way of testing it without the first one being triggered at the same time as the other two, she will display the second dialogue and then the third will never trigger from then on.
If you had the same issue as this just save scum until she does not trigger the second dialogue by rolling well enough.
