Best hope is that there might be some kind of mod kit or something that allows modders to make custom campaigns. Not sure though as I am not versed in that.
Thanks for the response. Tempted to buy it, but wanting custom campaigns like old NWN modules. I miss those and making my own!
The current game closest to that is Solasta and while good it is a far way from what you could do with the old NWN tool set. The problem it suffers from which is the same from BG3 is it was added in after release at the request of the community. I think you really need to plan and develop a game with a tool set for the community in mind. Otherwise it will just be an after thought with minimal effort dedicated to it. I think it will be modded similar to DOS2 but I doubt we will see any custom campaigns able to be made. Which I agree is unfortunate.
As someone who grew up with Neverwinter Nights, I'd pay full price just for a creation kit.
Larian has explained in previous community updates that the game relies on a whole slew of third party tools by other companies that they used to make the final product.
So you can't just release the complete dev kit without massive licensing issues. Which is aside from the issues that WoTC might have with it too.
Finally: games have become more complex beasts since NWN with quest / campaign creation not necessarily being easy.
That said: never say never. Cyberpunk 2077 also had a few amazing modder-created toolkits that allow much more than was ever imaginable, even aside from the official tools.
