same for wyll. his portrait stayed blacked out after i used a scroll of revivify on him

Same for me with Shadowheart.
The only way to fix I found — use mask of the shapeshifter to change character's model :D

Got the same issue and found a solution.
The problem seems to appear after level up. Just take 100G to the skelly-man to redo classes and levels. After that it should be resolved.

If that wasnt it, sometimes Vulkan makes things black / white / invisible.
Toggle between Vulkan / DX12 in the launcher and try that on for size.

Can't confirm that the issue is resolved after changing classes. Astarions portrait gets black again after leveling up. Funny: replacing Astarion with another Character turns this portrait also black. Tried Vulkan, but that doesn't even start: crash to desktop right away...

Astarion and Karlach portraits now are black, both after level up. They are not 100% black only 99 :P

yup it has been happening to me all the time, lvling up the portrait of the character might bug and end up black, to fix it just lvl up again or respect (or shapeshift, because your portratit change and that would "restart" it)
