having trouble with HDR.
With HDR on, everything just looks kind of washed out. if I tab out and make another window the active window, BG3 in the background will display seemingly correct colors, until I switch back to it, then it's washed out again. any temporary solutions would be great.

Yeah I'm having the same problem. I hope it gets fixed soon. Couldn't solve it myself and I've tried everything I could think of.

Had similar problems with wasteland 3. Tried changing screen - full/borderless/window?

ya tried it. no change. for some reason, when I alt-tab sometimes it works but it's random though.

Wich screen do you use?
Manufacturer and exact model number?

i would assume once you tab out, the game or windows switches back to SDR mode
(not sure if there is an indicator that can be turned on somewhere to proof that for sure)

i honestly gave up on HDR specialy if you have screen with a basic or low HDR rating i did not ever had a single game that would look good or better than SDR on a
LG 144hz gsync compatible 27" 1080p screen.
(but my screen also has a low HDR rating)

and then still anyways if the HDR implementation in a game is not good wich in most it isn´t and just scaled based of SDR, HDR does not make any sense anyways.
(i do not know tho how much work was done to implement it in this game so take that with a grain of salt)

at least thats my general consensis on HDR if you think iam wrong or incorrect feel free to educate me always eager to learn something new.

Same issue here.

HDR is good but need accurate calibration.

What I suggest:
- Download "HDR Calibration" from the Microsoft Store (it's an official tool from Microsoft), launch it and calibrate your HDR in Windows.
- Launch Baldur's Gate 3 with DirectX, and go in "HDR Calibration" (Options -> Video), and calibrate HDR in the game.

no its not about calibration. (tried it). the only only solution that worked for me is running it on dx11.

WIN+ALT+B turn off / on HDR, you can try in game

thanks. but turning off hdr makes everything look brown. but when i do it several times it works randomly hdr works lol. Anyway dx 11 is not causing issues so i will stick to that. and once again thanks a lot @Orda for your replies and help.

I've no issues with HDR with my alienware monitor. I'd suggest you check if it's not monitor related.

HDR is properly broken in this game, sometimes it will launch and it'll remember HDR settings, other times it'll revert to SDR, you'll know it's down that because you'll see GAMMA settings instead of HDR in video settings.

hdr on fq270 (cheap monitor ) with 6950xt work well with Vulkan . no problem here
