- This is my question. Monk 5/Fighter 5 do I get :
1) Primary attack (every character has)
2) Monk Extra attack (unarmed)
3) Fighter Extra attack (if I use a weapon? or )
3 attacks before I even get into bonus actions?
Then bonus actions etc as normal.
Even with armour on and while using a weapon and shield you can do a flurry of blows. Only thing you won't get from your monk class with that config is the extra movement and monk wisdom ac, but you can still use your ki abilities fine.
Also if you try to do monk barbarian, you'll only get one unarmored AC bonus, whichever is higher from your constitution or wisdom.
The only exception to this is a warlock pact of the blade's extra attack (Since it's technically a different feature called Thirsting Blade). That will stack with others for their bound weapons. This does make the 7/5 Paladin/Warlock combination very strong, but you can substitute the paladin with another class if you like.
The only other way to get an 'extra' attack is to get the thief subclass for rogue at L3, which gives an extra bonus action to use an offhand attack with if you're dual wielding or a monk, or using a hand crossbow.
Except it doesn't.
I beg to differ, friend. I gave noted reckless attack and GWM addict Karlach a lovely Action Surge for her birthday and she just turns things into goo in combat.
