2d6+3 or 1d10+4

Can someone explain how this stat work?

2d6+3 would be 2 to 12 damage +3. So 2+12=14/2= 7 this is the median roll, +3. 7+3 =
10 which is it's average damage.

1d10 would be 1 to 10 damage +4. So 1+10=11/2=5.5 this is the median roll, +4. 5.5+4 = 9.5 which is it's average damage.

So the 2d6+3 is slightly better on average by 0.5 points of damage. Not a big deal but it can matter.

(2+12 and 1+10 above is the min roll and max roll added together then dived by 2 to get their median roll value)

first one is like 5 to 15 and the other is 5 to 14

so 2d6 thats rolling 2x 6 sided dice etc. then you add the + to the roll

1d means one dice roll
2d means two dices rolls

1d6 means a roll from 1 to 6
2d6 means rolling the dice twice up to 6 so you have 1d6 + 1d6 dmg rolls added together

the +3 or +4 at the end is applied every time so u can get a maximum of 12+3 or 10+4

i hope this helps

also you can google directly "2d6+3" and it will simulate a dice roll with the graphics to show you what happens

so with 2d6+3 that means you roll 2, 6 sided (standard cubs shaped) dice and add 3 to the result, for a minimum of 5 damage and a maximum of 15 damage.

1d10+4 would be rolling 1, 10 sided die, and adding 4 to the result, for a minimum of 5 damage and a maximum of 14 damage.

2d6+3 would be the better stat to go with because not only do you have the potential to deal 1 more point of damage at your best roll, but also because you are rolling more dice which will almost certainly have a higher average damage.

Your average rolls will be highter with 2d6 than with 1d10.

2d6, better max and less volatile and better average

It's a bit more complex, because the chance of a max roll with 2d6 is much lower (1/36 vs 1/10). But yes, it'll give a more reliable result.
