The problem is more due to personality and behavior rather than appearance.
Although I do think they look fine, there does seem to lack some feminine charm.
As a woman IRL I can assure you that the women in BG3 are genuinely not attractive. It makes it really difficult for me to identify with them. I suppose you don't have that issue.

Wanting attractive characters does not mean I am looking for a real life anime girl, that is as dumb as it gets. There are plenty of good examples of WESTERN made women characters who are strong and independent, yet pretty/attractive. Look how Witcher 3 have done it and I'm not only talking about sorceresses, but common people as well. Women characters in Witcher 3 were done without catering to any stupid real life SJW/woke societies, absolute contrary to this game. Pushing gay relationships to the face, women who look like men, men who look like gigachads/feminine. They clearly tried to push an agenda, yet from all the points you could've bring up, you decided to bring "anime girls lover blah blah blah!". Pathetic.

I’m not interested to discuss anything here anyway. Just stated my opinion on this whole thread and gonna leave it at that.
But i play games to see something different, something that doesn't look like what i see in real life all the time. Why can't we have our epic fantasies in our fictional media and have fun with it? Why does everything have to be like our real boring world now, even fiction?
Even Resident Evil 4 Remake had content like Ashley's ballistics, big ears and all the flirting dialogue removed and people tried justifying it by saying that having stuff like that in a game where you have a virus mutating people into big monsters, is not realistic. Somehow Leon having cat ears and without a shirt was though.
It was the same with Dead Space remake making their characters look ugly, especially females but again, people tried justifying it by saying that it's more "realistic" this way, in a video game where you shoot demon babies in a space ship. Right.
Western game devs really made games have better graphics only to make their female characters ugly. You'd think that they'd use that technology to make the most attractive characters as possible but they went to the opposite direction.
You got 1 billion polygons, ray tracing, 8K resolution and texture, 256 fps, the most surreal post processing and what did you do with all of it? Use it all to make the most ugliest female characters possible in the most generic urban environments.

I don't want gaming to be taken serious or to be "elevated". I want it to stay fun, I want it to stay wacky, i don't want most games be serious and joyless to appease media snobs.
Video games are supposed to be an escape, a joyous experience to live out one's fantasies. It isn't supposed to be taken seriously. It isn't supposed to be realistic.
Video games can be considered art, but they can also be just some random ass fun. You don't need to analyze a video game in order to enjoy it. Especially when we talk about games like Resident Evil. A series based on campy B-list horror movies.
