The Dark Urge - I Should Have Seen Writing On The Wall
I didn't realize how brutal and difficult it would be to try to play a good Dark Urge character. The game puts you in positions where there are only losing scenarios. Why did you make it feel like such a nice thing to have Alfira the Bard join your camp only to wake up to see that you have mutilated and basically ritually sacrificed her in your sleep? Seriously - wtf Larian! LOL This thing could have come with a better warning that the choice to murder people was only kinda in your control.

Now I am really concerned that even though I have all the companions in my camp and we are up to level 4 that most of them won't survive or won't want to adventure with me. Outside of that the story reveals so far have been super on point and amazing even when I was not expecting to be surprised after spending 200+ hours in Early Access.

But seriously, I don't know if I can handle a murder hobo that murders without my permission. At least Astarion asks first... wth Dark Urge!

Wait, so it isn't possible to play the Dark Urge without committing at least some evil? Spoiler to me if you can, can a player create a character who is not evil?

Dark Urge is a constant struggle against the urge to kill and mutilate anything. Sometimes you can resist, sometimes you cannot.

You'd need to find specific Dark Urge spoilers to know whether or not you can avoid killing a main companion.

That surprised me too as well as I picked the WRONG Sorcerer type!!

Stop fighting the Urge. Become the Slayer. Murder the world. Praise Bhaal.

So is there a background where you're sorta good but like a neer'do well rogue type?

BTW Your "Dark Urge" is NOTHING next to THE SWARM from Wrath of the Righteous. You cannot have ANY party members at all and basically end up killing everything. Lich is pretty damned evil too.

The point of Alfira is to show and discuss the dangers of your urge. I wager going forward you will have more directed interactions.

They did warn everyone that Dark Urge isn't designed for your first playthrough. Also, in the intro before you leave the character creator it says the urge to kill isn't within your control.

"Not designed for" is incorrect. They said they do not recommend it as first playthrough (because you do not have control of all events and some might disturb you), however if you ask me, it's probably the best first playthrough you can do.

Dark Urge specifically was mentioned as something you shouldn't do in a first play-through or unless you are ready for an extremely difficult experience. It forcing you into things is sorta the whole point of it - because that keeps things novel, but it's very specific.

I'll probably run through the game multiple times before I try that kind of thing.

Dark Urge does not have a unique back story, quest, and events like an Origin character ?

I'll do you one better. I convinced Scratch and the Owlbear cub to join my camp, and I'm scared as ♥♥♥♥ that my Dark Urge will do terrible things to them.

To the point where I wait forever between Long Rests.

Do you mean the Owlbear cub in the goblin area? If yes, I made it revolt against the goblins and it got killed. Damnit o.o

You have two ways to get it. First, you can go to the Owlbear lair and kill the Mother and convince the cub, or at the Goblin Camp, play the game, win, and convince them to give it to you. If you earned its trust earlier, it should follow your scent to camp.

Sadly, mine is dead now. Need to remember that for a second playthrough.

How do you convince the cub? When I click on him it just says 'Oblivious to you, the cub continues to gorge on his mother'
