Lifting Shadow-curse

SPOILERS

I found this boy Thaniel, which supposed to help to lift the shadow curse. I get into the battle with him, everything is fine. Dialogue scene appears where he supposed to wait for us in camp, he leaves and then my party just keep dying from shadow curse without opportunity to fast travel. I played this battle several times just for my characters to die right after. (The map is new to me, because for this battle i had to travel through portal to unknown location. Before travelling to this new location, my characters are not affected by this curse). Am i doing something wrong?

I think you can find him on the map, he's at the house in shadows, I just found him right now after hunting across the entirety of the map, the quest marker never showed on my map.

I found a boy named Oliver that won't talk to me now and that's about it, guess I'm gonna go pick a fight with him because I have searched high and low and did that before I even got to the 'House with the Flowers' quest, but when I go there he just says 'I won fair and square'

I assumed he was trapped underground after talking to the big dead fat guy in the waning moon, but nothing else is coming up and I have scoured the whole map. I have noticed Halsin is missing from all my camps as well though so I don't know if it's a glitch or something but I don't want to leave without finishing the quest because I already tried and he was so sad.

A crumb of a clue Larian please.

Found something in "Tollhouse" up the map from Moonrise towers, not sure it's that but it a mention of "lifting the curse"

Ok update I just found this on a website that says

Tell Halsin about Art Cullagh.
We found a mysterious man lying unconscious in Last Light Inn. He said the name 'Thaniel' while sleeping. We should tell Halsin about this.

There is a guy sleeping in one of the rooms in The Last Light Inn, finally a clue.... Except when I go see him, he's dead. So I guess you have to do it before a certain point.

I guess no curse lifted this playthrough for me.

He is related to Oliver so it all has to be done before defeating Thorm. Sorry Halsin!

you can use speak to the dead scroll/spell to talk to Art, then tell Halsin

I didn't have any and no one was selling them unfortunately. I probably could have respecced a character or changed class or something but I already spent most of the day trying to figure it out, I'll just remember for my next playthrough.

I thought I couldnt do it this playthrough, Im glad I googled and came through this before heading to the gate

Where was Thaniel?

he was in a house, broken house, right hand side from both the inn and the towers if u're looking at the map

I think the problem is that you're supposed to progress the main quest until after you get a Moonlantern because they protect you from the curse since Thaniel quest drops you in the middle of an area with high shadow density.
