That said, giving a barbarian heavy armor is pretty effective if you want to go that route.
If anything it's more lax because they can rage with medium armor on.
I mean, it'll say "light", "medium", or "heavy" armor on it if it counts as armor. It's the weight/bulk of the equipment that interferes with the Unarmored Defense. There are plenty of headpieces that give stats but don't count as armor. You can tell which ones as they're the ones that don't say "armor" in the description. :p
