DEVS Need to add VR Support - GOTY If Possible
VR support is the next great thing in the gaming industry.

For an RPG like Baldurs Gate 3 it is essential that the player is immersed in the world. VR support will help with this and make the player feel like their choices matter. The facial expressions of the different characters that were so painstaking modeled will be highlighted in VR mode.

The main benefit of VR support will be for the romance scenes, specifically the romance scene with the bear. However, it will also be useful for combat, talking, shopping (imagine walking around a shop and putting things in a basket and bringing it to the shop keeper and then pulling out your coin purse and then counting each coin as you figure out the total for the items you want to buy - very immersive imo), and cut scenes.

This is why VR support is needed.

Seeing as VR never was Larian's focus, I wouldn't get my hopes up. They're oldschool RPG nerds, not VR devs.

I wouldn't lose hope if that's what you want, OP - There's VR mods being made for pancake games every so often.

What is a pancake game?

Like in; flat as a pancake. It's a term VR players use to describe non-VR games played on a flat screen.

Personally I would absolutely love to have VR in BG3. Just to have my head inside the game and look around with keyboard and mouse control would be enough for me. Doesn't really need to be more than that. I want that extra immersion!

Its already a GotY candidate though? Won't win most of the awards but its already a candidate and I don't think VR would push it over the edge.

Any game with anti-cheat blocks VorpX, so typically any new game won't allow you to use it, at least for online play. It's pretty annoying, anti-cheat consistently fails to prevent people from using cheats, but does manage to consistently prevent people from enjoying online play in 3D. For this reason, developers in general should at least enable native stereoscopic support - apparently it's not very hard since third-party software can do it transparently without any help from the devs at all.

This is something that serious shops should be paying attention to, as sub-$3000 full-FOV 4k-per-eye+ headsets are now available, and an RTX 4090 can actually make them enjoyable to use. Soon the 5090 and sets in the class of the Pimax Reality 12K will be out, and with Apple pushing VR into the general population you won't be able to keep your head in the sand forever. It's here, stop ignoring it please.

yes but being a candidate is different than winning. it will win if it has vr support. the graphics are great.

This didn't age well. VR support is so niche it wouldn't even be factored into a goty award. I say this as someone who primarily plays vr titles.

Yeah it feels like VR came closer this wave but still didn't really catch on.

Honestly it's just too awkward for a lot of people. I tried it out and it was a fun gimmick, but not something I'd want to do a bunch
