When launching via Vulkan game do not crash in the main menu but after 3 min in game
When launching via DX11 game crash in the main menu or in the loading screen
Sometimes i get BSOD, sometimes i don't.
Going in the event viewer and it seems to be same thing as Falmari
Was playing Early access and i did get a few crashes but nothing like this
Seems like it's started going downhill with the Hotfix launch
Yeah, my advice is to do as David-M suggests in the link you found.
- but before that try to open a Windows Powershell (As admin) and type the following command followed by enter
Edit : Actually David-M is suggesting the same further down, with some more scans that i would have suggested if you had found anything with the sfc /scannow
Following what he suggests in that thread is my recommendation, i hope this helps :)
I suspected it was a power draw issue so we downloaded MSI Afterburner and set the max power draw to 90% and under clocked the core clock rate by -200 Mhz.
I have no idea if this will work for you but he wasn't able to run it for more than 5 minutes, and now we've been playing for about 30 minutes.
Also note he has an MSI card (1070 gtx) so do with this what you will.
Could you update later so we can see if this is working ?
Thanks
Also can be done with Nvidia overlay, ALT+Z while in game and it's under the performance settings. Set power draw to 85-95%. I also set the settings in game to lock at 60FPS, set to high settings(had ultra on before) and turned off vsync. This solved the issue for me so far.
Launch game (Vulkan) with admin in the bin folder.
Turned off v-sync, cap 60fps.
Didn't crash for 5min when before i was crashing 2min in
Can't do extensive testing but we're on the right track i think
@your only black friend I have already used MSI Afterburner to unclock the GPUs made no difference. But thanks for the advice. :)
ok, then try the driver reinstall with DDU as David-M suggests.
I have to see if i can think of anything else, if that is not working.
but with underclocking ruled out too, im starting to be out of ideas.
Figured it was worth it even I it felt pointless, but I pulled the GPU out of my case entirely, blew it and the rest of my PC down with the air compressor, re-assembled, and then re-ran Furmark again. Similarly, everything ran fine.
Booted BG3 up again and now I haven't had the issue since.
It sounds dumb, but just pull your GPU out and clean it, make sure it's reseated properly and try again.
The issue is isolated to few enough people that the issue very likely is just a problem with the GPU in some form or another. For me, it was a bit dustier than normal since I"m in the middle of moving and my PC has been jostled around a bit/in a dustier-than-average environment.
So am I. I am starting to think it maybe one of the 4 16 gig Dimms is faulty under load. But I will exhaust all other possible fixes before I start swamping out RAM.
What really pisses me off is my PC should run the game at maximum settings without breaking a sweat. Its completely water cooled even the motherboard.
2 NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 24GB
ASUS ROG MAX Z690 EXTREME GLAC motherboard
INTEL CORE i9 12900K
and the game is installed on Samsung 970 EVO PLUS 2TB M.2 PCIe High Performance NVMe SSD.
Better the RAM than anything else, its fairly cheap to replace, compared to other hardware.
