Honestly... I'm fine with it as is.
I swear there seems to be some unwritten CRPG law somewhere that states every single friggen game of the genre needs to start you in a Jon Irenicus style starter dungeon crawl, and I can't for the life of me understand why we can't just start in a pub or town for once!
So many games have the 'skip the starter X' mod specifically because it gets old after a while
YEah but it was a needless bloat.
They cut exactly the worst tutorial bits: That confusing section that served no real purpose and confused all friends I showed the game to (where you have to run up the steps in that convoluted sort of way) and the stupid very first fight with elevation and no real urgency. Now the very first battle is so much better (more epic as well thanks to improved presentation).
Overall I loved the tutorial now twice as much.
Yeah but let's be real: That section served no real purpose and dragged down the entire urgency.
Protect the mindflayer to let them do the heavy lifting, get in whatever chip damage you can, and it shouldn't be too bad.
But the commander goes down with a basic fighter, I would say if you have a extra caster that can cc - buff it's easy.
