Why do we need an account

I'm so freakin sick of every dev thinking their software needs to have another account on their own website just to play.
As a user the choice is either make a new login for EVERY single game/studio OR use the same details and then risk losing them all when the devs servers get hacked after they time and time again tell you how well your data is protected.

Like mmo's i understand...all those games are pretty much an online account with a visual overlay. This however can do just fine using steam account details.

Ummm.... you don't need an account to play this. It doesn't require to you log in to hit "play". Same with the divinity games.

No clue what you mean. I have Steam, and that’s all. Are you referring to the launcher? That requires no account/login?

A Larian account means you get access to their cloud servers which for when the PS5 and eventually Xbox it will be full Cross platform support apparently.

ok...simmering down now, they put the "skip" button after the "get started making account" page/button

And there was no play button, it's blank with a single "start making account" type button in the centre and then after you click that there is a skip button on the side.
