way to turn off the dice rolls
It may be fun for DnD, absolutely hate it for gameplay. Right off the start of the game I've failed 3 rolls out of 4, one was a critical failure on a skill check for my highest ability score. If this is just part of the game, I'm gonna pass on this.

Welcome to D&D.

Well if you reduce difficulty and turn on karmic dice you will pass more checks. Dice is what makes it d&d

Right, stupid me asking a valid question on a public forum. have fun being toxic people.

It is the base of DnD dude. d20 check.

Like you want to play poker so much but can't stand playing a mind game card game?

Toxic? What?
FuNb0Y86 Aug 3, 2023 @ 11:08pm
No, I looked for it too. Can you believe there actually WAS this option at one point in EA? lmao. Beg Larian to put it back in. Sorry man.

maybe do a 5 minutes research on the game before buying it and then complain about? The game uses the dice rolls because it's based on dungeons and dragons. It's like complaining getting doom and then saying "is there a way to use spells instead of weapons?".

Every single game you've ever played that didn't have a guaranteed hit mechanic - as in pretty much every rpg out there - used a dice roll. The only difference here is this game shows a simulated visual of it. Behind the scenes they all work the exact same.

Perhaps you misunderstand how the die are used. Failing or Winning are just choices.. The response to a fail can be as much fun as to the win. I won the die rolls for the brain thing.. then ended up fighting the stupid thing. So wouldn't have mattered if i'd failed them, same result. There are rolls that are class specific like lockpick.. others that depend on charisma or strength.. pick the character you need for the task. Without the dice rolls either on screen or in the background all games would be very boring, all games have rng and rng is dice rolls. You just don't see them.
You've asked if there's a way to make the game easier. There is. Nobody is being toxic here, you just seem frustrated by the idea that you might not automatically win everything. Your choices are to either accept that you won't win every time, or lower the difficulty. Either of these choices are fine.

No I agree actually
People are COPEing right now because the game just came out
This isn't Disco Elysium with a tight story and many win/fail conditions

Dude, this is like asking for the shooting to be removed from Call of Duty..
It's an ingrained baked part of the gameplay system.

I don't know what you expect here, or why you are getting angry that the responses aren't to your liking. Maybe play Diablo instead if you don't like a core element of DnD?

When you fail a dice roll in BG3, 90% of the time you're just missing out on game content.

Open an adventure book, this is how they are all written. Succeed at checks, you get optional stuff. Fail and you lose something.
This is how it works.

The main issue isn't the game, it's that people save and reload every 10 seconds.

It works in pnp because there in no do over.

its pretty stupid and as a CRPG its just not suited for it. Several times now i've had this situation:

*investigate* *succeed roll* *elaborate and interesting explanation. *no new options*

*Investigate* *fail roll* *duhhh you have no idea what that is* *no new options*

like i said, failed rolls are just missing out on game content.

if that is their idea of replayability they made a big mistake, someones going to make a 'roll only 20s' on skill checks mod if they havent already

I suggest returning the game if you bought it from steam, its clearly not for you. Other than that, Baldurs is quite lenient when it comes to dice rolls. Pathfinder is the game that doesn't hold anything back
