Why does this game not explain how to play?
I am getting thrown into like 2v5s and if you are in the fight to long you literally lose abilities you are able to do, with no explanation to why or how to get them back and then you are fked. This is not fun, as a brand new player to these games. How the fk do I get my abilities back? Why can I only cast like 5 spells before I cannot cast any anymore? This is gettign stupid to me

Game gives you literally all the info you need pretty much, aside from the like minute maths behind the dice throws on attacks and such. Cursor over ♥♥♥♥, read tooltips, play with the tutorials on. Most magic casters can only cast so many spells per long rest. Cantrips are different IIRC. But like. Finding the information yourself isn't hard when larian provides it too you

No, that would be incorrect. I kept tutorials on, and at no time has it ever said anything about running out of resources and how to get them back during a battle and such. If need be, I can start a new character and record this to show you.

You may have missed the details; it's 5th edition DnD. Baldur's Gate is a long standing DnD campaign for 30 or 40 years. This game takes place 100 years after Baldur's Gate 2. In this modified edition of 5E all character "spells" or "class abilities" use a spell slot. You start off with 2 or 3 level 1 spell slots. Once they're used, you don't get them back until a long rest, which you can't do until after the tutorial. On the ship you need to use ranged (bow/cross bow) attacks. The game will give you tool tips on how to play, but there isn't a set tutorial.

Please do so, since the game just gave me a message on how to replenish said ressources (by resting) right after the first fight once the ship went down...

I guess it is something the rest of us who grew up on BG1/2/Planescape and then moved onto 3.5/5E/pathfinder take for granted, and something I never thought of.

Was all second nature to me but yeah in hindsight I guess the game does sort of throw you in the deep end - or assume you've played the Beta for the last 3 years. (Even as someone familiar with the ruleset the first combat confused the hell out of me since it seems like your party... *shares* initiative or something? I dunno.. It took me by surprise when I could just click on and control other party members..)

A 101 crash course probably is needed from the game for newcomers.

I hate it when a tutorial pops up and then disappears in like 0.05 seconds even without me dismissing it, making me dig through menus to find it again if I want to see what it said

No it does NOT expect you to have played any previous DnD game! OP is simply trolling...

Yeah, it's a little different for people new to DnD/PF rules, especially for people that came from DOS2, and the tutorial stuff is kinda sparse. Resting is very important, cantrips is the spells that you're probably expecting.

They should have a mini-campaign tutorial explaining some of the systems, like using up spells and having to rest, AC, and all that.

You might want to try story mode if you aren't already, it might be a tad more forgiving.

But that doesn't really fix the problem.

I agree, it's sort of bad explanation wise, it was mentioned in EA that intro was not really nooby frriendly.

There might be a brief help section somewhere in game.

Best suggestion is don't be afraid to try different things, pay attention to hover tool tips like "advantage"/disadvantage/ etc.

But ya, considering how short the "intro" is, things should have been a lot better.

"Game gives you literally all the info you need pretty much, aside from the like minute maths" no it doesn't, UI is terrible and there is almost no explanation lol ,

Sure people like us who have played already or in the "know" it's workable, for beginner/new player it's terrible.

So if you run out in a fight your ♥♥♥♥♥♥? What kind of garbage system is that

hence why I say it doesn't really explain and say UI is terrible.

There might be a setting somewhere to change duration but you shouldn't be going to settings to change something like that.
