Everyone's Androgynous?
Don't hate me here, I'm just wondering why changing between male and female makes no visible difference in the character creator (with cloths on). This is an honest design question and I'm not looking to stir up an argument.

I'm not just talking about the lack of breasts, there isn't even a bone structure change. Women don't even have feminine hips. Those Anatomy and Physiology classes I aced back in college are sorta screaming at me right now. I honestly don't understand why gender was (for all intents and purposes) removed from a RPG. Unless you are running around naked, there is no gender. Why intentionally reduce immersion?

EDIT:
I was altering "gender" not "body type". However, many outfits essentially remove feminine characteristics, such as breasts and hips. Check character creator for bard and sorcerer, for example. Why have a ton of genital options but not sliders for muscles or breasts? And why would wearing a shirt shrink your breast size? If anything, wouldn't heavy armor be what makes it less visible?

Think there were also several body types you can choose between, at least I know my tiefling definitely isn't lacking :cozybethesda:
I suppose it's clothing based as to whether or not they have breasts. Go into the character creator and select bard or sorcerer, for example. Changing between male and female makes literally zero visible difference, regardless of body type chosen.
They make a pretty significant change for me. Try the body types, not the pronouns. If you're just swapping between him/him and she/her then yeah there's no change. The body types are the real female/male. You have both short skinny and tall buff for both.

Yup you can only play as a female with a ♥♥♥♥ or male with boobs

There are 4 different body types you can change to in the lower right corner of the character creation menu. Slim Fem, Slim Masc, Buff Fem, Buff Masc. So yeah, you can be andro or whatever you like, but you gotta manually match 'em up if you want to.

This makes me want to go create a David Bowie looking character

It's clearly got a very diverse character creation mechanic....not sure what you mean.

The only truth here is that the last time you saw a woman's hips was in some anatomy class.

You must have some other version of the game than I do since I see quite a bit of difference between the four body types. Size, shape posture, etc.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Okay, it's definitely tied to either class or what they are wearing. For some reason a number of classes are not allowed to have breasts or hips unless they are naked.

This appears to be the main source of my confusion, so thank you for that bit of info.

Though, I must say, depending on class/clothing, even the feminine body types don't look very feminine. Just play around in the character generator and swap to various classes and you'll notice remarkable differences in female characteristics.

Nah, weird question tbph

These companies consider women to not be safe for work, in general, it's been a while since western devs have included any real female bodies in their games, best case scenario you get a very plain female, usually you'll get smaller male bodies intead, with little, subtle hints of curves.

According to a recent interview, preventing players from making beautiful characters was also the reason why they didn't want to include body/face sliders for further customization.

But you do get a slider for a skin condition, so there's that.

It might be buried though too.

The "new" UI is pretty poorly structured. there were a couple settings I found sandwiched between two things and burried.

but ya, for an RPG it's pretty lackluster for options. One of the things I love about Kenshi, is the options were pretty crazy/numerous for what I paid for.

In comparison this is non existant, and not even very representational

Yeah, it's really odd to see a game this polished have such a generic character creator, especially for an RPG. Immersion is one of the most important aspects of an RPG and character visuals play a big role in that. My hope is that a modder out there can resolve this one day. I don't expect the company to revamp their character creator.
