Friend joined now I am stuck with him in party?
A buddy of mine recently joined me and we are across the ocean from one another so the gaming gap is big so imagine my surprise when he lost internet and now I am stuck with the character that he made just for my game. I can not dismiss him, killing him does not work, and camp does not work.

Is this intended or a bug? Maybe I am missing something? I can not imagine a game of this scope forcing you to stick with someone when you could easily not be playing with them at times so I am assuming bug or something I missed.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

The characters are part of that save file, it is not drop-in/drop-out. If you start a playthrough with a friend, you are commiting to play that save with them.

what?
old saves arent compatible with the release that happened today.

are you saying you created this game file a few hours ago and in that amount of time you confirmed your friend will never have internet again?

i dont know dude. just make a new save file.

Good to know, I luckily had an earlier save so I suppose I will have a SP save and a Co-Op save only.

Thank you for the reply.

I mean I just started playing and we thought it was drop-in/drop-out. He made a fast character just to play with me early in launch. Not we will never play together again, he is a close friend but now I know that I can not remove people from my party that join MP and easy as can be.

Oh, you can't remove custom characters in multiplayer?
Good to know I guess, if the other player bails do they just sit in the camp
Or how does that work?

Nope, in my case that save I could kill my buddy and it would not remove him. It would be nice to see Larian add the ability to have say a stone in Camp mode where you can dismiss/store friends that join you.

work around I went with was the unlock party count and just keep the lads at the camp. and take the companions you do want

I play on 4 custom characters, you just get to control them as if they were any other team member

I've ran into this issue as well. Very frustrating not being able to remove a custom character after a friend leaves. So what is 'unlock party count'? Is that a Mod?

But my friend joined my game halfway through. That automatically and permenantly removes my ability to replace him?

That's a massive repurcussion for a game that defaults to "Friends Only" join sessions.

Is there really no way to remove them?

What is unlock party count? Can you potentially have more than 4? Mod?
