Tutorial broken?

I get to the bit in the alien ship where you have to get to the console and theres a guy with devil wings that one shots every person, even on the lowest difficulty, this fight is impossible, due to this guy and the large number of other enemies. Is this a bug or what?

youre not supposed to fight him, if you try the npc thats already fighting him should even tell you do not fight him go for the console maybe you missed that phrase.

Yup, what everyone else said. Just use dash to double move to the console.

The mindflayer specifically tell you to not bother with the devil and just go use the console.
That said, you can kill the devil. He drops a rather good greatsword and a medium armor.

The devil guy only attacks the alien guy so you can run past them or you help the alien guy to kill him

Do not forget you can inspect ennemies.
That one has 140 HP and did 30+ damage by turn to the "NPC"

It was clear i could not handle him at level 1. So i cleared the nearby mobs, then rush

NB :I started in "tactician" difficulty". It might be more doable in normal mode.
In tactician, I assume you might try focusing him from the start and ignore the "mobs" around in order to kill him (but i nevet got to try)

Using guiding bolt with Shadowheart can hurt him real hard if you're lucky. In my first Full Release playthrough I killed him so fast the Mindflayer decided he didn't need us anymore and turned hostile, so I had to kill it too. Then I had to run for the console as both the extra Cambions came running :P

Edit: I'm playing on Balanced btw.

hes optional kill for achievement. But to advance game you just need to activate console.
P.S solid boss on tactician. had to save scum 20+ times to kill but i had my fun )))

I think it's meant to be an abject lesson that we can't win every fight we find in game and to avoid what we cannot do.

You can stack explosive barrels next to him and firebolt them to do big damage. You get an achievement for killing him now too.

And to pay attention to the game and what's being presented to you rather than just defaulting to "Gork Smash all people with red circle to win game!"

There's an achievement for killing Commander Zhalk (the cambion fighting the mind flayer). He also drops a fiery greatsword.

I'm not sure how to get that achievement without save scumming or mega million lottery winner luck.

Before you enter the fight, you can press K to open the Spellbook tab and swap out one of Shadowhearts spells for Command and force Zhalk to drop the Flaming Greatsword, then just run over and pick it up.
He'll just start punching the mindflayer instead, only dealing like 6 damage to it.

LOL I'll have to remember that for my fighter play through. That's hilarious.
