how to break an oath of Vengeance?

Soo, i wanted to become an oathbreaker and for RP purposes i choose oath of vengeance.
turns out it is not as easily broken as the others. i am curiois
anyone found any early events where you can break it?

Fun thing, Tieflings were gone already, Goblin was dead, i picked the cage without anyone seeing me and nobody there anyway and just the act of unlocking the cage broke my oath

One of the tenets of Vengeance says "No mercy for the wicked". So if you fight an evil character but the character begs for mercy and you grant it and let them get away, you just broke your oath.

I have a question, if we fight Hag and then ket her go, will it break the oath?

For those who don't know, if you break your oath and you are trying to multi-class you will have to revert back to your oath prior to multiclassing. Its a pain. So highly recommend to start off with the class you are trying to multiclass into then classing into pally and finding a different way to break your oath depending on your act/story

easiest way is take healing paladin dont remembe name then go say release laezel then kill tiefling thne boom quick early easy oathbreaker

I managed to break my oath of vengeance this way.

1. Protect Sazza the female goblin in a cage when she was threatened to be shot by Arka.
2. Win the persuasion checks.
3. Wait tieflings to leave.(or don't, but than you have to kill the tieflings. :P)
4. Have a word with Sazza agreeing to free her to guide you to gobo camp.
5. Lockpick the cage DC:10 with Astarion.
6. Open the cage. BAM OATH BROKEN!
7. Talk with Sazza and you'll get cutscene with Oathbreaker Knight.

This did not work for me. I even slaughtered the entire grove, I murdered innocents, I went back on my word multiple times. Still no broken oath.

My oath of vengeance paladin campaign was restarted for the patch 5 stuff, I had just entered act 3, but I will tell you how I broke my oath, and then restarted to fix that.

I chose to help Glut (VENGEANCE BUDDY!) take Spur's colony, and I was just mad my oath was broken since I was playing the dark urge. I was really surprised it hadn't been broken when I killed the tiefling bard, so I just kept going like "I will fight this urge to kill with my faith! I will sate my thirst for blood with that of the wicked and vile!"

did you absolutly made sure that it was your own character that opened the cage? cause this was the point it failed for me waaay back then. i let astarion lockpik the door AND open the cage and that was the mistake, it has to be the paladin who does it.

No - you have to revert to your oath in order to *respec* - you can multiclass just fine with a broken oath ...

I doubt Oath of Vengeance fall for letting someone take revenge though
