Is combat still the best XP?
I played divinity 2 which was ridiculous as far as xp, mass murder is the best option. This is DnD. Has anyone confirmed if persuasion, intimidation, etc is worth it or am I screwing myself for not killing every enemy I see?

They said during an interview that non combat options will reward EXP so that you're not underdeveloped for not being a psychopath.

I'm currently attempting to test the xp gain from deceiving that one group in the ruins early on vs combat

also you will probably be max lvl way before the game ends so no worries there

Combat always has more risk so I would expect combat to always give more XP than the non-combat option. But glad you don't have to play BG3 like tabletop, where every group ends up being murderhobos.

70 xp for killing the 4 of them, 50 for deception but ofc I also lost a lot of health between my party so I mean...give and take.

But you also gain loot which you can use it yourself or sell. Camp supplies are infinite. I would say Killing is still better.

still some benefit but a lot of the times youll get 1xp for the kill if you already got the chunky xp for another interaction with them. sometimes 0 even.

example: if i convince the goblins guarding the door to gut-girl to let me through, i get a chunk of xp for it and zero for killing them.

tl;dr murder-hobo is still beneficial in some situations but you can see they tried or are trying to make it more "fair".
doesnt really work because i'll get a bit more loot by killing them - the xp wasnt the only incentive...
