If you lied to the tiefling and turned around and attacked them, that will break your oath. If you just attack them that can break your oath . Paladins are tricky

Good news, is Oathbreaker is a fantastic subclass and you are no longer bound by your Oath and can be a "good guy" or "bad guy" as you please. Bad news is if you wanted one of the other subclasses, you have to "play by the rules" as it were.

It turned me off from the game multiple times because I always went into the encounter expecting the possibility of a diplomatic solution where nobody has to die but never manage to reach one, I want to get Lae'Zel down and so I am forced to commit multiple homicides.

I was always able to tell the tieflings to just...walk away...
I took the vengence oath and it let me trick the thieflings without breaking my oath. Anyway, you can just re-take your oath I think at the camp.
