Do savage attacks trigger on unarmed strikes by a monk, or nah?
I'm getting mixed signals from the internet.

I tried it by repeatedly punching an NPC in the camp till i scored a crit. The normal dice for Monk lvl3 is 1d6, when you crit is 2d6 (Should be 3d6).

Unsure why they made this choice, it could also be that they just forgot about it. For example, Flurry of Blows, if you look at the tooltip, doesn't scale with STR but if you actually go STR and use Flurry of Blows, they damage you will do is higher than what the tooltip says and the rolls in chat show you that it's using and adding str.

Could we somehow get an official saying on the dev part if this is something they will be looking at to fix or if it is intended?

have a look at tavern brawler, that works with monk unarmed attacks (including FoB) and with a couple of magical items you can have 20 str and 18dex (for the AC). +10 to hit and damage while keeping your AC is kind of nuts

Official dev responses on Steam forums? Dream on. Larian has their own forums.

FYI - in regular pen-and-paper 5e, a monk's unarmed strike DOES count as a "melee weapon attack", even though they are not attacking with a weapon. It's a keyword thing (specifically for interactions with feats/abilities). This was an official ruling made back in 2016 in the Sage Advice Compendium, page 10.

Yea well the official tavern brawler is also much weaker so consider this a balance thing.

Melee weapons and unarmed are different things a anyways , if you count unarmed as melee weapon attack then you should also make Savage attacker feat to also work with monks and that would just make the class even more ridiculously OP Than it already is.

Consider druid elemental forms. I read research done on them.

Fire, Air and Water all wield weapons and benefits from the druid being a half orc with savage attacks.

Earth does not use weapons, attacking with its fists. Does not benefit from savage attacks, but benefits from tavern brawler.
