Unable to open Esc menu

Playing online multiplayer with my friend, some time after crashing the ship. I lost the ability to hit Esc to open the traditional pause menu, where you see things like session, settings, etc.

I wasn't seeing any errors and my friend could still open theirs. I plugged in a PS5 controller and it did not help either.

I'm on PC, I noticed in the top right there looks like a pause menu button but it was darkened out and I could not interact with it.

Same thing here, my ESC doesn't work.

Same issue! I can't leave the game. I'm in LAN multiplayer rn.

Also happens to me. It disabled the ESC can from working in any circumstance (e.g. closing menus), and darkens out the pause menu so I can't change my settings or save.

Same. Restarting game still helps

How do you save without esc?

Keeps happening to me too, to fix this you need to restart the game again.
If you want to quicksave without access you need to hit F5 for quicksave and F6 for load
