Join a friend's campaign with a custom character?

Is it possible to create a character and bring it into a friend's game? Or do I need to do it from the start as a multiplayer game?

Yes, you can join at any time with a new custom character if you don't already have one in the session. You just join the game and it will put you into the character creation. You can not bring a character that you have from a different campaign.

But what level will the newly created character be? Level 1, or does it scale automatically with the party level?
