Bonus points because he's actually voiced by the same person who is the DOSII narrator.
I feel like that's probably what Larian originally wanted to do. It feels like the reason you can customize your guardian is because it was originally supposed to be the "dungeon master's" appearance, so to speak. Besides, DOS2 already had something very similar to a guardian and you couldn't customize them.
Feels like they just recycled what they already had done and applied it to a story NPC instead.

id actually like one that reads my characters dialogue options as i mouse over them :P
there's a select few scenes in the game where your custom character actually speaks and its awesome. id like all the dialogue to be spoken!
