RTX3070 goes to above 100 Celcius!!!!
Hi, been playing now and my temp of the video card goes above 100 degrees celcius and shuts down.
Buddy of mine has 3060 and plays everything on Ultra with 60 degrees.

Pleas advise T_T

I recall divinity OS2 doing the same, even with vsync on it was trying to push as many frames as possible until I capped the framerate

BTW I can't even hear my 3070.

Never allow a game to use uncapped FPS until you've tested it out

A lot of games released have no upper limit and will kill your card (even in paused in-game menus!) by running it as hard/fast as it possibly can until it fails

I've seen too many people lose their Graphics Cards to unlimited games upon release where it just maxxes out the card and fries it

Until you KNOW its safe, put it to 60 FPS / VSYNC etc etc to protect your card
don't put into a grill but get a cooler for that poor 3070. Oh, boi
Nothing to worry about tbh.

We're talking about a GPU (not CPU) here. GPUs can take way more heat than CPUs and also throttle much later (at higher °C than CPUs) in general.

Many modern GPUs can reach even higher temps than that (especially during a boost / turbo "phase"). They automatically overclock themself until they hit a certain temp and only then start to throttle (way more aggressive than a CPU does). It can sometimes take some time until the temperature (and boost) really stabilze.

Idk when or how long you have monitored it, but there is a chance that you just looked on a cold GPU during a boost.

If you still get 100°C after ~30min (of load), than its probably just "crappy" cooling on the GPU.

However:
TL;DR:

100°C is no problem for your GPU. Just make sure that it doesn't get much worse ^^

Hello sir. No offense to you, good sir, but the information you provided is really... hmmm lets say: "inaccurate" xD

A GPU can't - under normal conditions - and never will kill itself or even get to a point where it's unstable.

I haven't seen (or heard of) a single video card dying that way / for this reason in my >25yrs of hardcore gaming. I'm also an IT guy (>20yrs experience).

A framecap can help if you have temperature issues or to stabilize high frame rates, but is generaly not nescessary.

Completely untrue. I left a gun near my case once and my 2070 ended up shooting itself

This is exactly same with my Gigabyte RTX 3070 and inside a case with good cooling.
Not getting 100C, but Hotspot was reaching 95C with I ran with 120 FPS.

But like others suggested - I turned DLSS ON and set FPS limit to 60 (this game really does not need you to go higher than 60 FPS anyways).

Now it turns very well with temps~ 55C.

Cap your damn frames. Why does this have to be said in every game on PC?

Because sadly a large proportion of gamers these days, buy a PC and know nothing about it, how it works or how to maintain it. So yes, you frequently get really dumb questions.

When I first moved from my Amiga to the PC, everyone were into building their own systems, maintaining it etc etc. But these days so many are too lazy to learn even basic things.

sounds like you have to re paste ur gpu

Clean your GPU, remove custom fan curve on GPU or make it more aggressive, improve cooling in your case.
Cooling issue . It’s not the games fault

DLSS alone should already decrease the load by a lot. I personally would never limit my sports-car to have less horse-power,... but that might be just me ^^
I played with a 2080 Super and Warhammer III made my computer warmer. I never had any issues with the computer coming close to shutting down. I basically used the detected settings.

Could also limit gpu power.

Had to do that for my 3060 to stop coil whine...

It's your issue - not the game's. A game is NEVER, I repeat NEVER, responsible for overheating temps. That's up to the user to make sure their system is properly cooled.

You have something SERIOUSLY wrong with your system. Either your case fans and/or your GPU fans are not running fast enough, are dirty/clogged, or an issue with a water cooling system if you have one.

Until you find the issue, cap your FPS either in the game or in your graphics card control panel in Windows.
