Blackscreens with an RTX 3080 make the game unplayable..
Hi,

I know the 3000 series is known for this issue and I had it with a fair share of games in the past, but Baldurs Gate 3 is the first game that is literally unplayable because of the blackscreen issue.

My computer has no issue handling the game, but after minutes (!) the game always causes my system to go in a black screen. I don't think the pc crashes, it's just the gpu that seemingly turns off or something.

I've seen this issue in the past, with Star Wars Jedi Survivor. Here it game out every few hours, sometimes. Sometimes it didn't come up for weeks. Other games, like Warhammer 3, that keep my pc constantly on it's limit, on the other hand not once caused this to happen after hundreds of hours.

And this game here..? 7 minutes were the most I could get out of it without a black screen so far :(

I am using the newest drivers and I tried different cables (HDMI, DP) and I am not sure what's causing this to happen this frequently. I can say it's not a temperature issue or power issue. Way more demanding games by the way don't run into this, or they don't run into this so fast.

Does anyone have an idea what's causing this? I know people complained about this issue for years, ever since the 3000 series came out.. but I was unable to find anything pointing me towards a solution :(

I have a similar issue, using a 4090.

Same thing here with a RTX 3060...

I had the same issue with a 6900. Random blackscreens, pc keeps running. The GPU was broken. New card and never saw it again.

It's restarting my system on my EVGA 3080 after about an hour of actively playing.

My EVGA 850W Supernova G+ is only four years old, but hasn't had that issue with any other major/heavy AAA game.

Is it possible this isn't hardware related? The 3080 is just two years old now. Not used that much for gaming.

Have the same issue with a RTX 3070 Asus TUF OC w/ latest driver. It is sporadic, and I had a longer run when running the game without the launcher. I play other games at max settings without issues, and I have run multiple stress tests on the GPU without issues.

Runs fine on my RTX 3080 laptop so far with recommended driver version. Playing on DX11, 1440p max settings with DLSS set to quality.

It heats up my laptop CPU to 70s C though so I need to use 60 fps cap.

Same here with RTX 3060ti

Curiuos if you all are using the latest gpu drivers, been reading on Nvidia driver forums that the latest official is causing many people to have way more issues than normal. Issue people are reporting the most??? Black screen and gpu driver errors in event viewer. Some fixed with hotfix Nvidia just put out that fixes black screen issue. Worth trying hotfix gpu driver or older driver as I have never seen that many complaints in one GPU driver forum thread as with the last two.

If you're using Vulkan and DLSS Quality set it to Balanced and wait for a driver update

Game's running mostly fine on my RTX 3070. If your drivers are up to date I don't think the card is the issue.

4080 and same issue. Just had to restart my PC because I got a black screen but could see my cursor and hear audio.
No issues so far with 3070ti and recommended driver. Running at 1440p, with quality DLSS and 60fps cap to keep the temperature down a bit and minimise chance of framerate dips.

For a few friends with same card (and many on Nvidia driver forum) they had same issue with latest gpu driver. One tried the GPU driver update hotfix Nvidia just released and the other tried an older driver and both now have no isssues with the black screen

Where can I get the hotfix? I don't see anything on google.
