In the game (so ignoring subclasses like the bladesinger or hexblade), I guess the closer would be a pact of the blade warlock. The thing is, the mechanic to freecast a spell when you hit doesn't exist, the closer would actually be a paladin smite.
Luckily for you, a pact of the blade warlock/paladin multiclass is a really good combination.
Warlock Paladin seems... Counter productive, at least from a roleplay standpoint of split servitude. But I'll probably screw around and see what I like since they talked about letting you respec.
paladins don't serve anything in 5e, they take a general oath and that empowers them. think cu chulain instead of god knights. weird for what paladin is meant to be, i know, but does make for a more interesting class conceptually.
