The official sources via D&D Beyond for character creation are accessible for free. Including all you need to know from D&D players' point of view, which might contradict what non-D&D-gamers imagine how to play the game.
Not really, two odd scores can be turned even with a single ASI at level 4. In fact that's the way to go if you want to get to 20 ASAP, since you can't get 18 from CC, 17 is max for any race.
Starting with 17 in your main stat allows you to get one ASI and one feat that also gives +1 stat to reach 20. While starting with 16 would mean you'd have to spend two ASI's to get to 20, and won't get the feat until level 12 (when the game is almost over).
However, so far the "half-feats" in BG3 aren't very inspiring, and core feats for key builds don't offer +1 to a stat, so this is situational.
No joke. THIS. THIS is the best way to play your first game of Baldur's Gate, period. Once you've done that, THEN you will rightly crave some Min/Maxing. But you should absolutely just follow your own instincts on your first playthrough - and that's true for EVERY ASPECT of your character. Class, race, abilities, attitude, everything. If you start from a place of theorycrafting, you'll seriously be missing out on something magical.
You see I used to play DOS and never played any D&D stuff. And all what you said is Chinese to me. I hope the game clearly explains how things work and does not assume every players is a die hard D&D fan.
My Shadowheart?
Yes, it does. But it will not take the reading away from you.
You can also easily re-spec starting early on. So if you decide that things aren't working how you like, or if you decide you want to get fancy with your build once you understand the game better, that option is always available to you.
longbow master or whatever it was and the good stealth system. got it.
Tks. I'll consider this indeed. I don't want to play the most OP/Meta stuff. I'm just worried that I build a team that I realize is actually trolling, but too late to correct :)
You would need to "work really, really hard" to achieve that. As in: purposefully skilling and equipping the worst possible choices for everything.
