Oh it does, but why add a launcher in the first place to make people have to input the command in the first place? The launcher serves no purpose for the player.
Launchers are a scourge. Will put baldursgate3.exe (or whatever it is called) on my desktop.
Its a kind of DRM and most Games of GoG use this to give the Player a fake DRM Free Version.
they hope that you buy DLC etc. from their launcher instead of Steam, so they don't need to give Steam a commission.
Also they can show you ads for merchandise etc. there.
Long story short: as soon as "everybody" is doing something, the reason is money.
Hmm.. If you can turn it off with a simple click, never to be seen again, I think you cannot flag it as DRM in any way. It's just an optional launcher for those that want to use the Larian account for some reason. As said - It's fully optional, and if you do not want to see it ever again, just click on that option.
I used the off-line installers from GOG, and I do not even have to use a client like here on Steam to install and play the game. So yeah...
