Not if you're on a full fibre line
Thanks. Nice to be able to recall amusing (irritating) stuff like that.
That means I can still play the EA version wile downloading the (31 or so) off-line installation files. And I can keep playing until the downloads are complete. After that it's a simple uninstall of the EA (and the save files I have, of course, stored locally - after I have backed them up), and install the full version.
In the worst case scenario that the full version has big problems (I don't count on that, but there's still a certain Murphy's Law), I can just delete the game, re-install EA (of course I still have the off-line install files and the backed-up save files), and play on until things are solved.
I really love those off-line installer files. I always keep a back-up of them on a external 5Tb or 8Tb hard disk. Those disks don't have to be fast, because it's just installer files and no game.
For the OP. Yeah - It sucks to notice too late the complete EA install is worthless the moment the game is released. It's commendable that you admit it's your own fault. Nevertheless - I feel for you. But at least you are aware now and are not taken by surprise the moment the game is released.
