Good Summoner/Necro class ?
Does one of them have perma pets ? (don't like the idea of having to keep spamming pet summonings/ corpse ressurections)

Warlocks who choose Pact of the Chain get to summon an Imp/Ifrit

Anything with animate dead should have a semi permanent "pet" - you just have to use a spell slot after every rest to keep your raised dead listening to you. That's tt though, not sure how BG3 will portray that spell. Or other summoning spells

If you want a permanent pet, warlock or ranger are your best bet.

I played with the ranger pets a fair amount. The variety is pretty interesting, loved the spider for spamming webs.

This is what my necro used in my previous TT game. It's pretty easy to have a couple of undead following us around almost 24 hours a day, and they make useful tools for guarding your camp over night.

Then since they go dormant when the spell expires just recast it in the morning.

As for how it will work in BG3, you can apparently get quite a large number of undead minions if their previous TIkTok video is anything to go by.

in 5e D&D they become hostile when the spell runs out so you must recast it before the 24 hours end (and why many necros cast it 2 times a day at min to be safe

Not going to check any TikTok video for this, but what are you suggesting? To have multiple pets the Wizard Necro is the way to go, or are there other options? Wizard Summoner no good?

Some Summons can be good (especially if you are creative) but don't really last long.

As for wizard, necromancy sub spec should be fine if you want a few undead constantly following you around, just note they don't get minions right away.

That reminds me, I have kinda always wanted to make a Necromancer who stores are animated dead in portable hole. ( If dm rules they don't get the 10 str check)

I mean, they stay animated, they just agro on you as well if you don't re-cast the spell, so there's nothing preventing you stacking, let's say old mine or barn full of un-controlled undead... then just some day opening the door and running away causing havoc :=)

Even better with portable hole, just unfold and run xD

I'm 100% sure that the spell description that we were reading said that they become dormant, basically standing in one place until provoked. However, now I can't find it, so that's a bit awkward.

OTOH it's kind of moot. Long rests are 8 hours and you're going to rest before the 24 hour window so as to avoid Exhaustion. If you know that you're not going to make that window then you can run it off a cliff or have the undead tear each other apart.

Or have it attack a magical flower and have its arms eaten off. Which I may have done (absolutely did do it) for science.

That's certainly what I'm going to do. 😁 Necro spec is best spec

/this is a matter of opinion and is not, most likely, the best spec for a wizard in general

The spell description just states they stop listening to your commands. Its very...up to the DM

What about Moon Druid / Beastmaster Ranger ?

You can be a Bear with a Bear Pet !
Lord Adorable Aug 2, 2023 @ 5:58pm
Necromancer WIzards can have a little horde of Undead.
A cool change Larian implemented for Animated Dead in this game is that if one of your Undead kills an enemy or it dies within a turn of being hit by it, it,ll also become a part of your horde for a little while.

As fun as that would be, due to each being class level dependent, it would be... very not good
