So the abilities don't play into it?
Doesn't mean you should focus on them though, at least not always. Dex, yes. That's a rogues main stat.
Int however, most rogues don't care too much about. Only arcane trickster rogues have int scaling.

They do, which means dumping a stat (making a stat 8 to put those points elsewhere) means you will have a -1 to skills, ability checks and saving throws for that stat; keep that in mind if you dump something like wisdom (you will get frightened/charmed a lot) or dexterity (taking full damage from AoE spells, getting hit by traps, etc).
But do classes get their saving proficency by default? I Play a socerer and reach level 4 and it lets ne select the "Resilient" feat and I can still select Charisma
