im so new to these genres,i am not good at turn based combat, and i will probably start on the easiest difficulty, but for some1 who wants to enjoy the story what class would be the best to start out with? expecially if your getting in over your head with enemies everywhere

Champion Fighter is the easiest by far. Their skills are all passives so you don't have to worry about pressing as many buttons.

If you wanna cast spells, Warlock prolly the most beginner friendly caster.

It kind of doesn't matter, you will have four character to play, and you will need to learn how to play each. But if you want a easy character for yourself, Champion fighter is stupidly easy it doesn't have to make any tactical decisions, you just hit stuff.

You should start with a high dexterity Fighter and go Bow for everything. Sharpshooter feat, archery fighting style, just snipe things with a longbow. Easiest way to play.

Also a major tip, quicksave all the time using F5 like every couple minutes. Autosaves are not good in these types of games as there is usually a lot of exploring in between encounters. This will save you the frustration of dying and loading back 2 hours if you've gotten in over your head with a fight or a nasty trap while running about.

The easiest classes to start are probably fighter and cleric for a spellcaster. But really, pick whichever one you think sounds cool. you'll have a party of 4 so youll be able to have lots of different things to try out in your party

its also the most boring one. why pewpew when you can shoot fireballs, put enemies to sleep and fly?

What class do you want to play? Champion Fighter may be the simplest but you shouldn't make your decision based entirely upon simplicity. You'll have to learn how to play 3 other classes because of your companions.

Put the game on Easy and play the class that looks or sounds fun to you. You can change your class or that of any companions whenever you want also. Once you feel like it makes sense you can raise the difficulty.

champion fighter, wildheart barbarian, arch fiend warlock and hunter ranger are the most straight forwards classes.

druids, sorcerers and monks have the most complex mechanics (some sub classes of other classes do too)

gonna be honest with you mate. after i played pathfinder wrath of the righteous this game gives you barely any options to choose from and its amazing. i dont need to think to much. pathfinders got like 20 fcking classes everyone of them having 5 subclasses with the game having subclasses that you have to unlock with certain feats n gosh. it got to much for me so a simpler game like bg3 wont be to big of a problem even for someone who hasnt played a game like this yet.
you will die and lose alot so save alot. dont be scared to sleep at camp as if you loot everyting it is impossible to run out of food for camp regen.
and simply choose what you think sounds cool because the best part of this game is the respec guy. there is a guy you can meet pretty much in the beginning of the game that will allow you to respec every character in your party. dont like fighter? then swap that party member away from that class into another one cuz why not?
BD3 is a playground that has 2 teen bullies and 40 happy children. the 2 bullies will be the early battles until you get the hang of it and after that its smooth sailing.

tldr: dont think to much, you can respec at any time so just do what you think sounds cool

no warlock is by far the easiest caster for a beginner you've got a reliable decent damage cantrip that you can spam and upgrade and your spells refresh on a short rest, plus you'll be good at face skills and decent at sage skills. light, life and war clerics are fairly easy to play though. the other cleric sub classes need a bit more thought and knowledge.

What kind of character do you like?

A fighter type character that uses melee weapons
And Archer?
Magic user?

There are druids that can shapechange into animals or have animal companions (along with rangers)
Sorcerers that spam cast dual fireballs
Paladin holy warriors etc

or a hunter ranger so you've got a bit of extra flavour with the odd spell. using same skills, equipment and stats as your fighter though :)

a thing to remember is some of the sub classes make classes act a bit like other classes. e.g. eldritch knight makes a fighter a bit wizardy, trickery makes a cleric a bit roguey. It's probably best to pick the simplest / most core / vanilla like sub class of the class you like the most. these would be
  • barbarian - wildheart
  • bard - lore
  • cleric - light or life
  • druid - land
  • fighter - champion
  • monk - open hand
  • paladin - devotion
  • ranger - hunter or beast master
  • rogue - assassin or thief
  • sorcerer - draconic
  • warlock - archfiend
  • wizard - evocation or abjuration
