Sorcerer + Dagger = ?
Quarterstaffs are goofy ahh. And they look goofy ahh. Any chance for my sorcerer to just use a dagger? (She's meant to be kind of a ragtag character, so I figured that could work.)

Is it feasible?

I'm assuming I'll lose some buffs that the enchanted quarterstaffs will offer, though.

EDIT: Wild sorcerer btw. Like I said, ragtag

you can hold a dagger yes but should be using cantrips instead of weapon attacks most of the time

Why stab when you can burn from a distance

Give your sorcerer whatever she wants, her weapon skills are going to be trash anyway. Dagger is actually a much better weapon than quarterstaff for a sorcerer since you're unlikely to have any strength to support bonking people, but either way, if you're using a weapon then something has gone terribly wrong. If you don't want to spend a spell slot, just cast a cantrip.

the only reason i would think you would need a weapon as a sorcerer is if theyre right in your face, and you never learned shocking grasp which would be better in that situation. If thats the case you find yourself in, yeah a dagger is probably better than a quarterstaff

So far there's only one caster weapon that makes a bit of difference (other than granting you a 1/day spell cast), and that one is a staff.

You can certainly hold a knife if you want. If you ever swing your weapon as a sorcerer, things have probably taken a bad turn anyway.

Unless you have a weapon that gives a bonus to your spell casting, go unarmed.. You will be using your cantrips when not casting your limited spells.

Yeah the main point of quarterstaffs is the caster focused magical ones. You won't ever swing with it.

Dagger is probably better overall because it's a finesse weapon that can use dex as a to hit bonus, while a quarterstaff is a strength weapon. Strength is likely to be a dump stat for a sorcerer, while dex is likely to be much higher, so technically, a dagger is probably better overall.

But really, you don't need anything. Your cantrips are even better because they will scale off your charisma, which is likely to be your highest stat.
If you go draconic sorcerer you could literally run around butt naked and still have decent AC in the early game and plenty of good cantrips that you can use ad nauseam for no resource. Firebolt and chill touch are good for range, shocking grasp is great for close range because if you hit with it, it's a free get out of melee range card, as you can run away and not take an opportunity attack.

Maybe multiclass a type of rogue and a magic user?

Thung is quite a few staffs in EA gave you extra spells to cast.
Create water, bless, ensnaring strike.

You will never use your weapon as a sorc, but you might find staff with handy spell that is not on sorc spell list.

There might be some caster daggers too though, we just don’t know yet.

= ♥♥♥♥. It's not DOS here.

I would say give her any range weapon, just for the case you accidently click on attacking the target instead of casting a spell. That way she will just shoot and not run straight into melee :>

The only time you'd want a weapon on a caster is for the attack of opportunity if you don't have the warcaster feat. Dagger is probably better as your more likely to have higher dex then str.
